English Grammar Learning Tips.......Past Perfect Tense

  Past Perfect Tense:-

Introduction:-☝

1. Use the third form of the verb.
2. Had is used as a helping verb.
3. In negative tenses not is used after had.
4. In interrogative tenses had is used at the beginning of tense.
5. Formula= subject + had +3rd form of verb + object.
6. In the Urdu language the recognition of the present perfect tense is چکا تھا/لیا تھا، چکےتھے/لیے تھے، چکی تھی / لی تھے are used at the end of Urdu sentence/tense.
7. e.g. He had slept.....He had not slept.....Had he slept?

• I had set up a barbecue stall.                                           میں باربی کیوسٹال لگاچکا تھا۔  
• I had not set up a barbecue stall.                              میں باربی کیو سٹال نھیں لگاچکا تھا۔  
• Had I set up a barbecue stall?                                       کیا میں باربی کیوسٹال لگاچکا تھا؟

• We had set up a barbecue stall.                                    ھم باربی کیو سٹال لگاچکے تھے۔  
• We had not set up a barbecue stall.                         ھم باربی کیو سٹال نھیں لگاچکے تھے۔
• Had we set up a barbecue stall?                                کیا ھم باربی کیو سٹال لگاچکے تھے؟

• They had set up a barbecue stall.                                   وہ باربی کیوسٹال لگاچکے تھے۔  
• They had not set up a barbecue stall.                     وہ باربی کیو سٹال نھیں لگاچکے تھے۔  
• Had they set up a barbecue stall?                              کیا وہ باربی کیو سٹال لگاچکے تھے؟

• You had set up a barbecue stall.                                    تم باربی کیوسٹال لگاچکے تھے۔  
• You had not set up a barbecue stall.                       تم باربی کیوسٹال نھیں لگاچکے تھے۔  
• Had you set up a barbecue stall?                               کیا تم باربی کیوسٹال لگا چکے تھے؟

• He had set up a barbecue stall.                                           وہ باربی کیوسٹال لگاچکا تھا۔  
• He had not set up a barbecue stall.                              وہ باربی کیوسٹال نھیں لگاچکا تھا۔  
• Had he set up a barbecue stall?                                       کیا وہ باربی کیوسٹال لگاچکا تھا؟
